NICE TO MEET YOU
My name is Jamie Parker and I am interested in understanding what we believe and why we believe it.
There are two quotes by René Descartes that, somewhat, sum up my passion and my mission, “It is not enough to have a good mind. The main thing is to use it well.” And, “If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things.”
Of the many values I have tried to impress upon my children, two deserve mentioning here – Question everything at least once and Don’t give up just because something is difficult.
The goal of this website is to foster discussion and thought. I am NOT here to change anyone’s mind.
UPCOMING PROJECTS
At this point – the only project I am prepared to discuss is this website. I, like this site, am a work in progress. The bad news is, I have been putting this off for more than twenty years. The good news is, I am done with the bad news.
I am open to suggestions for topics as well as collaboration with you. My interests are many. My first love (besides God, my family, and baseball), is early Christian history combined with historical theology. Where did we come from and how did we get here?
I am strongly interested in hermeneutics, philosophy, political science, and economics. There are few topics that I will not be open to learning, discussing, debating, or or debating.
